All products in this site can serve dual purposes: Video Surveillance and Live Event IPTV Broadcast Streaming. These products are standalone DVRs, IP streaming appliances and PC based surveillance encoder cards. They support iphones, Black Berry and handhelds. They all use standard compliant encoder CODEC, e.g. ISO compliant H264, MPEG4, JPEG and de facto Windows Media. The streams can be set compatible with iphones. This feature allows video to be viewed live, or be played back using Windows Media, DivX, VLAN, iphones, or be embedded onto web pages. Audience can view the video without the need to install any player CODEC. This helps to save on support costs especially when the streaming video is for the public, e.g. traffic surveillance and event IP streaming. The archived video can be edited; and DVDs can easily be created from the standard compliant video. Most of these products exhibit low entry cost, high video quality, and are packaged with turn key applications for both live broadcasting and video surveillance.

Beyond the basic security video streaming and IPTV broadcasting applications, some other potentials are:
  • Standard compliant encoder for video surveillance in public places: Traffic cameras, child / day care surveillance, tourist attractions, mall cctv IP surveillance and advertizing. With standard compliant DVR encoders, audiences do not need to install any CODECs, eliminating the need for user support.
  • Live event IP streaming in sports venue, religious iptv live broadcasting, advertizing, live shows, and events that may need multiple screens and PTZ (Pan tilt zoom) camera support.
  • After the live broadcasting, archived DVDs can easily be edited and authored, to be played back on standalone DVD players.
Most products in this site can handle all above feature.

In case of live broadcasting, upstream bandwidth is usually the gating factor. For example, if one camera per stream uses 200Kbps (320x240pixels, 30fps), 5 users, each viewing two cameras at the same time would need 200Kbpsx5x2=2Mbps upstream, which is problematic to most location. To side step this issue, you can stream one stream of the video to an ISP and let them distribute to your multiple users. BernClare can also assist to introduce ISPs that can do live streaming at a very modest cost. Please click here for information on "How to start up live IPTV & broadcast streaming".

Simple Steps to Setup Live Broadcasting

Step1 Hardware Installation:
Install your encoder card or standalone system, connect the camera(s) and mic(s) to the inputs of the system to verify that it can encode. Find out your IP address and open up the necessary ports in your router and firewall to prepare for live streaming.

Step2 Bandwidth estimation:
Make sure you have enough upstream bandwidth for your video. For example, a modest (VHS tape-like) quality 320x240pixel, 30fps video+audio would take 256Kbps and allowing for 20% margin, your would need 256Kbps x 1.2= 307Kbps upstream bandwidth for each live viewer. Typically the viewer has to open up an htm page (or Windows Media player) using your IP address and port no. (e.g. http://206.xxx.xx.xx:port#)and they can see the video.

Step3a IPTV Broadcast, Free, Live:
You can push one stream to
livestream.com and they will recast for you, free.

Step3b IPTV Broadcast by ISP with your own channel name:
Using the above example, should you plan to have live streams to say, 50 users, you would need 256Kbpsx50 = 12.8Mbps, which becomes difficult and expensive to get. In that case, we can link you up with a service provider. All you need is to stream one stream to that ISP, and they will provide enough bandwidth to stream for you. The above exmaple will cost you only $199 per month or less.

*** Note: you need the extra bandwidth only for the duration of Live streaming. Once "Live Streaming" on the event is finished, you can save and upload the event's video files onto your ISP server, set up you web such that users can click and view your video. This is the economic "progressive download" method that will not need extra "simultaneous streaming" bandwidth . ***
